Saturday 17th November saw Marshall HQ play host to the third annual Ultimate Band Contest 2012. Each year we've seen the UBC grow in size and popularity and this year was no exception as we took the competition global and had bands from all over the world signing up to take part.
This years lucky finalists were Obey, Peepshow (States of Panic), Deligma (all the way from Australia) Nakedium and Frantic Alice from our very own hometown, Milton Keynes. The quality of these bands was immense and each one deserved to win in their own right, but sadly only one could take the title. Our group of industry judges - Artist Liaison Paul Marshall, Record Producer Steve Levine, Kerrang! Music Editor Jennyfer Walker, Download Guru Andy Copping and Boots Electric himself Mr Jesse Hughes all watched, listened and took notes on their favourites.
After previous UBC winners, Sons of Icarus, kickstarted the show and Cambridge rockers, The Treatment closed it, Jesse Hughes took to the stage to announce the winners. This year prizes went to:
Best Guitarist - Steve Pickin of Obey
Best Bassist - Sam Bryant of Nakedium
Best Drummer - Guy Jeffrey of Deligma
Best Front Man - Johnny Gunn of States of Panic
Best Band - States of Panic
Congratulations to Peepshow on taking the winning title this year and we look forward to seeing you guys perform at Download 2013. Thank you to everyone who took part and submitted videos, it just goes to show the amount of raw talent there is out there.
